Plan "B" an Intimate Concert

Today seemed to pass right by as I took Jenn into town to see the doctor for her cough. She has been coughing all week and has been a real trooper with school and after school activities, but she needed an antibiotic to kick the infection in her sinuses and upper respiratory system.

Needless to say, in the depth of parental concern for my daughter's health, I was nowhere near a radio when they played the song that would determine the final winner for the tickets to see Michael Bublé in Raleigh on Friday, October 3rd, 2008. No problem, we've always got something up our sleeves.

So, it's time to set in motion plan "B" which will take place later on this month. I'll share some of the details with you later as they develop, but for the time being let's say it will be an private concert with up close and personal appearances, slow dancing to romantic, sultry jazz tunes from Michael Bublé and Diana Krall. Just imagine!

Susan, You've just won tickets to see Michael Bublé!

OMG! Yes! Yes! Yes! That's what you will hear scream on Monday, September 29th, 2008 when our local radio station V103.3 announces that I am the 13th caller and winner of tickets to see Michael Bublé up close and personal in the front row at the RBC Center on October 3rd! All I have to do is call as soon as one of his songs ends and be the 13th caller. I can hardly wait to pick up my tickets! Why?

Michael Bublé is my favorite male crooner! I didn't even know who he was until my boyfriend asked if I had heard his hit song "Home". It became "our song" and as well as his hit song "Everything". As corny as it may sound, there is nothing more romantic than having a song to represent your love for someone, and this singer won both our hearts. This is Michael's second performance in NC, we missed the first one in Fayetteville on March 18th, but as soon as I win those tickets we're headed to Raleigh on October 3rd for a wonderful evening of melodious romance!

Psssst ... wake up! All right; but I'm staying positive about winning one of the five remaining pairs of tickets. Either way, I will be equally as happy to spend our 5th anniversary dancing in each other's arms while listening to our collection of Micheal Bublé's most romantic melodies!

Modern Technology; Love it or Leave it?

Though many people complain about the advances that modern technology has made in the last few decades, one thing is for certain, it has made many long distance trips more enjoyable for everyone in the vehicle. Just recently we made a trip to Tennessee by way of Georgia, and five of the seven passengers in my van were between the age of fifteen and twenty-three. Though they found things to chat about for a bit, it didn't take long before there was complete silence from the rear. As I turned to see if they had all fallen asleep I saw at least three of them hooked up to their ipods listening to their music, while the other two read books. Ahhh ... the sweet sound of silence truly is golden. ;)

Modern technology; I love it!

Matt White & Lee Nadel Perform at Hooligan's

On Sunday December 02, 2007 I had no clue who Matt White or Lee Nadel were, that is until they sang Matt's new HIT song "Best Days" at Hooligan's in a concert sponsored by All The Hits BOB 93.3! They came out on the stage as the opening act for another band and to my surprise, they were really good! As a parent of two teens I am often introduced to new music all the time. Little did we know that we would get to see two awesome performances. Matt played guitar and sang several songs from his debut CD. After Matt and Lee finished their performance they headed out to the lobby to sign autographs and talk with the audience. When it was our turn to thank him for his performance Jennifer had no problem cozying up to Matt for a photo opp!

After our chat with Matt, Jennifer headed back in as the other band was almost ready to begin playing. At this point I also took the opportunity to thank Matt's sidekick, Lee for his performance. Though Matt does all the singing, Lee accompanies him on the bass guitar. During their performance Lee wore a light colored woven cap which prompted the girls to insist that he "take it off!" He complied to their wishes as they burst into a resounding scream, all the while he teased them with the idea he might toss it into their midst ... no such luck ... a man and his cap are rarely separated ... at least not for long. Both were friendly and personable young men, and as I spoke with each they responded with a heartfelt "Thank you! It really means a lot."

You can find them both on MySpace, and while you're there why not give Matt's music a listen, and Vote for his song "Best Days." Right now it's VH1's #8 video on VSpot's Top 20!

A Classic Success!

Today's events were all successes! We have a full house for Jenn's performance at the Classic. There were sixteen bands and ours played last as we were the host. My niece is the drum major along with Austin and they were dressed in a tuxedo and sassy red and white dress complete with a red rose in Ashley's hair. They were a handsome couple indeed! Our color guard were all very much in character in their red and black fringed one shoulder outfits ... muy bonita!

Though there were lots of things to do at the day's event to help out with we found that most every station had more than enough help. We brought in our contribution to the baked goods with Lisa's chocolate chip cookies and our famous chili. We ended up in the dressing area with Jennifer and helped out as much as we could before heading out to find more ways to help. It seemed like there were too many volunteers, so we often found ourselves simply watching the students file in and out of the dressing rooms and on and of the practice fields and competition field.

As the evening progressed most everyone finished up their jobs in order to watch our kids perform. There had been some excellent bands and since our band had not seen the others it left them fresh and ready for their presentation of "Carmen." I have to admit, they were really good! The band has really come a long way since this summer ranking right up there with the largest band and the color guard was the best performance of the evening. I can hardly wait until next weekend!

"Cabin 8" Set to Make Its Debut Performance

This week "Cabin 8" auditioned for a spot to open for a star band that will perform at their high school next weekend. Apparently, a former high school student is trying her hand at putting bands together and decided to give back to her alma mater. So she lined up several acts to audition for a chance to open the evenings event on September 22nd, 2007. "Cabin 8" will be one of the opening acts!!!

"Cabin 8" consists of seven young men that banded together at this summer's FFA Leadership Camp are committed to making their band a reality. As you can see they are having too much fun! My son Ryan and two of his best friends are joined by five other young men from their high school. They describe their music as Rock. We've yet to hear the band perform together; we'll let you know how it goes after the show!

I remember the first time I saw this group perform on DVD (thanks "Mr.D"); it was incredible! It's amazing that these men were able to put together such an awesome sound using objects other than the usual musical instruments. It's a ways off, November; but it's a concert in our state! What do you think "Mr.D"? Would you like to go?

He's wonderful and it's another hit!

For the nearly a year now, we have been enjoying the music of Canadian Jazz crooner, Michael Buble. You can check out the single from his latest CD ... here he is; Micheal Buble singing "Everything" on AOL Sessions. You can search AOL Videos for more of Michael's music, like his hit song, "Home." I love having this sung to me as I am danced across the floor in the arms of my love! There are two performers I would love to see live in concert together, imagine ... Michael Buble and Diana Krall ... now that would be awesome! ;)
